Chief's Welcome                       Chief Samantha J. Cole

Chief Samantha J. Cole
2010 Welcome Letter from the Chief

I would like to thank you for coming to the newly designed Lebanon Rescue Department Webpage. We are very excited about everything that is going on within the department and the community.

On behalf of the dedicated men and women who serve as rescue volunteers for the Town of Lebanon, Maine,  I would like to thank you for visiting our new and improved web site.

The Lebanon Rescue Department provides rescue services, emergency medical services and ambulance services utilizing several dedicated volunteers. These dedicated rescue professionals  carry pagers and respond from home or work when an emergency occurs.

Their response time is relative to the current road conditions, traffic, and the nature of the service call. A lot of the calls our responders respond Code 1, which means no lights and sirens.

The Lebanon Rescue Department currently responds to approximately 700  incidents per year.  These incidents include:

  • Rescue Calls
  • Vehicle Accidents with Injuries
  • Stand By At Fire Scenes

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of  55.8 square miles. 54.7 miles of it is land and 1.1 miles of it is water. The total area is 1.94% water.

Our service area  approximately serves a resident population of about 7,000, which doubles during the summer do to the vast campgrounds and recreational events Lebanon offers. Lebanon is a small town located between two larger communities, Sanford, Maine and Rochester, NH. Lebanon has a variety of small business and residential complexes. We have mutual aid agreements with our surrounding ambulance departments which allows us to call in help from other communities for large-scale emergencies. We in return offer ambulance service and ALS intercepts to those communities when needed.

Check the website often, we are always adding more to it. Have a safe day

Samantha J. Cole

Chief, Lebanon Rescue Department

Chief Samantha Cole with Governor Baldacci

Chief Cole has been the Municipal Rescue Chief since 2002. Lebanon Rescue was founded in 1981 and has been led by several great Rescue Chiefs. There success has help bring Lebanon Rescue to the point they are now. Prior to 2002, Lebanon Rescue provided first response and another agency provided ambulance service. The rescue department has been transporting patients with their own ambulances since October 1, 2002.

We are proud of the work all the volunteers do for their community.
